The Bicycle
This video will teach you how to build your own bicycle. If you can hire a factory full of workers, that is.
I ride bikes a lot.

forty modes
Let me explain. I've got a problem with New Years Resolutions. They are too boring, unquantifiable, and usually not very ambitious. So this year, 2011, I propose to do the following:
1. Learn everything I can reasonably learn about a mode of human transportation online in less than 1 hour
2. Personally engage in that mode of transportation
3. Document all of that and post it here
4. Repeat 40 times
Note that a mode of transportation is "a term used to distinguish substantially different ways to perform transport." These modes are NOT necessarily different vehicles. For instance, walking will certainly be used on a week when I can't think of another mode. By substantially different, we'll say that driving a car and driving a pickup would normally fall under the same category. If, however, I find occasion to drive a semi-truck, you'll see a new post on it. I'll warn you, as crunch time comes I'll probably lie motionless allowing the earth's momentum carry me through space.
Welcome to my journey of ambition, my transportition, if you will.
